For every performer on stage there's a crew making it happen. The Events Pathways Programme trains young people for that side of the industry, hands-on and paid. Māori and Pasifika rangatahi are underrepresented behind the scenes, so they are the programme's primary focus.

A crew development programme that teaches the events industry from the inside: building a stage, running sound, health and safety, logistics and working a live show, mentored by industry professionals.
Young people drawn to the behind-the-scenes arts: sound, lighting, stage management, photography and video. We focus on lifting Māori and Pasifika voices in the backstage world. Plenty are performers too.
A cohort comes together for an intensive, mostly hands-on programme. They build a stage from the ground up, deliver a mock event, and learn from industry professionals, technicians and guest speakers.
Graduates step into paid crew work on Rangatahi on Stage gigs, then on to paid crew work at some of Auckland's biggest events, including Laneway Festival and Auckland's Lunar New Year festival.
“The program met and surpassed my initial expectations, giving me both practical skills and a deeper appreciation for event production.”
