YANZ was commissioned by the Devonport Methodist Childcare Centre to transform a previously bland wall inside their centre into something alive.
We collaborated with two local visual artists who led the design and painting, drawing inspiration from the local environment and te ao Māori. The brief was simple but meaningful: create a space that tamariki would want to look at every day, that reflected where they are and the world around them.
The result was a colourful addition to the playcentre, inspiring tamariki to be creative and, just as importantly, providing a paid commission for two young artists.
